 Kingfish Lose Four Straight To Mallards

Tonight the Kingfish lost their fourth straight to the Madison Mallards 13-4. The game marked the final game of the four game series and in total; the Kingfish scored 10 runs to the 50 for the Mallards throughout the entire series.

The Mallards came right of the gate with four runs in the first, three in the second, and two in the third.  Their final three came later on in the game, in the eighth. The Mallards continued their strong defensive performance with six strikeouts and no errors.

The Kingfish scored one run in the sixth thanks to Taylor Douglas who hit a single and drove in Pat Porter. On the night, Douglas was 2-4.  Excitement came late in the ninth inning with a three run homer from Zach Ratcliff.  Ratcliff drove in Zack Kolakowski and Jeff Edwards, to put three more on the board for the Kingfish but couldn’t go any further falling to the score of 13-4.

Trevor Haas gave up nine runs (five earned) on seven hits and hit four batters as well in three innings of work.  The Kingfish bullpen has been struggling as of late and have not bean able to match the dominance of their first few outings.  E. J. Trapino pitched for three innings and did not give up a run while on the mound, the first Kingfish to do so tonight.

Tomorrow the Kingfish travel to La Crosse to face the Loggers for a two game series.  The Kingfish return to historic Simmons Field on Sunday, June 8th for a series against the Kalamazoo Growlers.
