Garcia Pitches To Split Series Against Chinooks

The Kenosha Kingfish returned to historic Simmons Field last evening hoping to extend their success from the road. The Kingfish took on the Lakeshore Chinooks and the game was evenly matched but due to foggy conditions, the Chinooks gained the lead and the Kingfish fell 4-5.

Pitcher J.D Nielsen and the Kingfish line-up did their jobs last night keeping the Chinooks off the bases and the Kingfish on. Kyle Brooks had an active night with three hits, and one run aiding the Kingfish. The Chinooks struggled in the seventh with inconsistent pitching including two wild pitches which resulted in the Kingfish scoring two runs.

The star pitcher Rico Garcia will be starting for the Kingfish tonight. Garcia has had a stand-out start to the season with 26 innings pitched and only one earned run given up to equal his impressive .34 ERA. He leads the entire Northwoods League with his ERA and also is first for strikeouts, with a remarkable 25 strikeouts. His last start was against the Chinooks at Kapco Park and pitched the team to a victory of 3-0.

“Smith and Forge Wrestling Night” will be taking place during tonight’s game. Among other wrestling-themed promotions throughout the night, a special appearance will be made by WWE Hall of Famer “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan. He will be autographing “two by four” pieces of wood for fans. The Kingfish continue their home stand into the weekend taking on the Green Bay Bullfrogs followed by the Battle Creek Bombers.
