The second game of the doubleheader against the Lakeshore Chinooks has been cancelled due to inclement weather. The game will not be made up as a result of schedule constraints. The post-game entertainment, the Human Cannonball, has been moved to Wednesday, July 2nd night’s game along with the Guaranteed Win night. Due to cancellation, all tickets from tonight’s game can be turned into the Kingfish Ticket Office for a ticket to another 2014 regular season home game.

In the first game of the doubleheader, the Kingfish lost 5-4 in the 12th inning on a walk-off home run.

The Kingfish struggled against lefty Cam Vieux but were able to get to him in the fifth with two runs.

In the sixth, with a new pitcher on the mound, the Kingfish took advantage. Kyle Brooks started it out with a single. He was then moved to third on a hit and run from Spencer Gaa and scored one batter later on a Zack Kolakowski sacrifice fly, giving King Elvis’ crew a 4-2 lead.

Trevor Haas left after six innings of work with the lead, scattering seven hits and giving up just two runs, walking one. Unfortunately the Kingfish could not hold the lead as Coley Thompkins gave up a two run bomb in the bottom of the seventh to tie the affair at 4-4, where it would stay as the game went into extras.

Justin Peters came on for his second appearance of the year and pitched very well, throwing nearly four innings, but gave up the walk off homer in bottom of the 12th to seal the 5-4 loss.

The next home series starts on Wednesday, July 2nd at 7:05p.m. against the St. Cloud Rox and will be the “Tribute to Elvis Presley” night with a King Elvis the First Bobblehead Giveaway. The aforementioned Human Cannonball and Guaranteed Win Night will also take place, where General Manager Jake McGhee will spend a night on the Bambino boat. They will return once again July 6th to face the Wisconsin Woodchucks.

The Kingfish office is located at 7817 Sheridan Road and is open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. For more information on 7-game packs, season or group tickets, please log on to kingfishbaseball.com or call 262.653.0900.
