Kenosha Wis. – Kingfish pitcher Rico Garcia and outfielder Pat Porter have been selected to play in the Northwoods League All-Star Game. The game will take place on Tuesday, July 22nd at Kapco Park in Lakeshore, Wisconsin and begin at 6:45 p.m. (CST).
From his first appearance, Rico Garcia set the bar high for the Kingfish bullpen. The Hawaii Pacific University sophomore pitched six flawless innings in the inaugural season opener, allowing only two hits and striking out five. Since then, the righty has compiled a 3-2 record with a 2.45 ERA and leads the Kingfish with 36 strikeouts, and claims the number three spot in the league. The Hawaii native has also pitched close to 50 innings, the most in the Kingfish bullpen and is leading in ERA.
Joining Garcia in Lakeshore will be Ohio State University’s Pat Porter. Porter has made his presence known in his first season in the Northwoods League. Porter leads the NWL league with 47 RBI, and sits in second place with nine home runs. The Chagrin Falls, Ohio native is currently on a five game hitting streak and batting an impressive .325. Porter has been a staple in Coach Duffy Dyer’s line-up, hitting third in front of Ohio State teammate Zach Ratcliff, and appearing in 43 of the 45 games played.
The All-Stars are selected in a vote by the 18 members of the Northwoods League. Each team’s field staff and media contacts had the opportunity to cast a ballot. The roster for the North and South Division can be found here:
