Kenosha Wis. – As the 2014 Regular Season comes to a close, the Northwoods League has named their Postseason All-Star team. Kingfish pitcher Rico Garcia, second baseman Chris Godinez and outfielder Pat Porter were each selected as part of the honorary squad.
Second baseman Chris Godinez has emerged as a top hitter in the Kingfish line-up thanks to his red hot second half. At one point, the Big League Dream Showcase player was hitting a staggering .455 over a 30 day span, and had recorded hits in 16 of 18 games. The Bradley University sophomore is second in stolen bases and hits for the Kingfish, and leads the team with a .337 batting average.
Pat Porter, a left-fielder from the Ohio State University has been a staple in Duffy Dyer’s line-up the entire season, appearing in 68 of the 70 games. The Northwoods League All-Star leads the league with 62 RBI, the fifth highest mark ever in a single season. He has not shown any signs of slowing down as he is on an eight game hitting streak and is batting an impressive .328.
Starting pitcher Rico Garcia showed his consistency and top-notch ability right from the start. In his first outing, the right hander pitched six shutout innings, allowing only two hits and striking out five. Garcia leads the Kingfish staff in innings pitched (66.1), wins (5) and strikeouts (51). The Northwoods League All-Star claims the third highest ERA spot in the league with a mark of 1.90.
