If Season Ended Today, Kenosha Would Be Headed To Northwoods League Playoffs

Kenosha, Wis. – The Kenosha Kingfish have won 10 of their last 11 games and currently have a one game lead over the Wisconsin Woodchucks for the second Northwoods League South Division Playoffs. If the season ended today, the Kingfish would be playoff bound to take on the Lakeshore Chinooks in a best of three series for the Northwoods League South Division Championship. The NWL season is divided into two halves, with the division winners of each half earning a playoff berth in each division. If the same team wins both halves, the second playoff slot is awarded to the club with the next best overall record. South Division first half Champion Lakeshore leads the second half by three games over Kenosha, which means the Kingfish could qualify for the playoffs by either passing Lakeshore, or by having the second best overall record for the season in the South Division.  If the season ended today Kenosha would be in the playoffs due to having the second best overall record in the division, holding a one game lead over Wisconsin.

Holding their lead on the Woodchucks would send the Kingfish to a best of three South Division Championship Series against the Chinooks. Game 1 would be played in Lakeshore due to them having a better overall record.  Game 2 of that series would be played on Tuesday, August 12th at historic Simmons Field and game 3, if needed would move back to Lakeshore. First pitch for the August 12th affair would be delivered at 7:05 p.m. with gates opening at 6:00 pm. With two victories in the best-of-three set, Kenosha would earn its way to the Summer Collegiate World Series. The SCWS would be held August 14t h through 16th against the winner of the North Division Championship Series. The Kingfish would be guaranteed a minimum of one more home game for the three game series, with a potential second depending on seeding.

With the possibility of a playoff berth, the Kingfish front office is putting playoff tickets on sale to the general public Wednesday, August 6th at 9:00 a.m. Tickets can be purchased at Kingfishbaseball.com, by calling 262.653.0900 or at the Kingfish box office at 7817 Sheridan Road in Kenosha.
