Thurston and Ramirez Named Final Kingfish Right Handed Arms

Kenosha, Wis. – As the Northwoods League season quickly approaches, the Kingfish have solidified the right-handed portion of their pitching staff. The final pieces to the puzzle that are coming onboard this summer are Chase Thurston and Ty Ramirez.

Chase Thurston will be joining his Eastern Illinois University teammate Brendon Allen in Kenosha this summer. Thurston originally hails from Danville, Illinois and is in the midst of his junior year with the Panthers.

Last year, he posted a record of 2-3 and a 4.26 ERA. He was a reliable reliever as he made 25 appearances and worked 38 innings of action. Ultimately, his work earned him the role of team closer and he collected 5 saves.

Ty Ramirez has just begun his collegiate career as a freshman at Creighton University. Ramirez is a Wisconsin native from Greendale, just 40 minutes north of Kenosha. He was an All-State Selection by the Wisconsin Baseball Coaches Association and Co-Player of the Year in the Woodland Conference as he boasted a 1.03 ERA and 86 strikeouts in 54 innings during his junior season.

Ramirez has made three appearances so far for Creighton and has worked 5 innings of action. Both players have been signed to full-length contracts and are expected to provide some right-handed depth to the Kingfish pitching staff. The Kingfish will open up play this summer at home against the La Crosse Loggers on May 31 at 7:05 CST.
