Kingfish Bring Hamilton, Beltran and Schwark Aboard
Kenosha, Wis. – The Kingfish have signed a trio of lefty pitchers to temporary contracts. Alex Hamilton, Rigo Beltran, and Aaron Schwark will be joining the Kingfish this summer.
Alex Hamilton is a junior at Eastern Kentucky University hailing from Jackson, Kentucky originally. As a sophomore, he stepped into a higher profile role as he appeared 14 times and started 13 games. In those games, he was able to notch a grand total of 77 strikeouts. He had his best start against Tennessee-Martin where he worked 8 innings, allowed 3 hits, and struck out 8.
Rigo Beltran is in the midst of his junior season at Lynn University in Boca Raton. This year he has appeared out of the bullpen twelve times and started on the mound 5 times, posting a 4-4 record with 1 save. He has bounced around from school to school, playing for Broward College in 2015 and Palm Beach State College in 2014, before settling at Lynn University.
Aaron Schwark is the last of the trio joining the Kingfish. A Grand Rapids native is a junior at Kalamazoo College, and is collegiate teammates with Kingfish reliever and All Star pitcher Ryan Orr. In his nine starts during his sophomore year, he had an ERA of 4.28 and picked up three wins. He was the team leader in shutouts, second on the team in strikeouts, and a two-time conference pitcher of the week.
All three pitchers will have their opportunities to perform and the field and potentially extend their stay past the temporary player status. The Kingfish will open up play this summer at home against the La Crosse Loggers on May 31 at 7:05 CST.
