Kenosha, Wis. – It’s opening week in Wisconsin in the Northwoods League presented by Edvest.

The last time the Kingfish took the field, they were crowned Northwoods League champions. The Kingfish played their first game following the title match this evening, and ended it with a walk off single to defeat the La Crosse Loggers.

Kian O’Brien was the hero of the night. With the bases loaded, one out, and a 1-2 count, O’Brien drove an inside pitch to left field and plated Wes Weeks. O’Brien had a terrific outing in general, as he finished 3 for 4 with an RBI.

Matt Hearn had a successful evening, going 2 for 3 with a walk, while Jack Yalowitz went 1 for 3, drew a walk, and scored a run. Cal Jadacki ripped a big RBI double in the fourth inning, which served as the only Kingfish extra base hit of the night.

Brendon Allen took the mound for the Kingfish and had an excellent return to Kenosha. The junior at Eastern Illinois worked 6 innings of action, recorded 9 strikeouts, and allowed a mere 3 hits. Rigo Beltran made his Kingfish debut and worked two perfect innings, while striking out five.

The victory is the first home opener win in franchise history. The Kingfish will host the La Crosse Loggers tomorrow at 6:35CT before heading to Green Bay for a two game series.
