Kenosha, Wis. – The Kingfish (19-28 overall) fell just short against the Madison Mallards by a final score of 2-1.
The Mallards scored first on a Bryce Carter sacrifice fly in the 2nd inning. Marty Bechina tied the game with an RBI triple in the 3rd, but the tie did not last long. Joe Stefanki gave the Mallards the lead again in the 4th inning on an RBI single, and the score would stand the rest of the way at 2-1.
In spite of the loss, the Kingfish saw an exceptional starting performance from Adam Dressler on the mound. He worked 7.2 innings and gave up one earned run and one unearned run. He did not allow a single walk, and struck out 2. He was also very efficient and threw a mere 79 pitches. Ryan Orr worked the last 1.1 innings and set down all four Madison batters he faced.
The Kingfish notched 7 hits, 4 of which were extra-baggers. Marty Bechina paced the Kingfish offense, finishing 2 for 4 with a double, triple, and an RBI. Dylan Rosa had a 2 for 4 outing with 2 doubles, and Gunnar McNeill had a 2 singles en route to a 2 for 4 night.
The Kingfish will play on the road in Madison tomorrow at 4:05 CT. After the All-Star break, the Kingfish will have a two-game road series in Battle Creek beginning on Thursday.
