Kingfish Release 2017 Schedule

Kingfish to Host Season Opener June 1st at 6:35 pm

 

Kenosha, Wis. – The Kenosha Kingfish of the Northwoods League have announced the schedule for the 2017 season. The Northwoods League will play a 72-game schedule, with the Kingfish hosting 36 regular season home games at Historic Simmons Field.

The Kingfish will open their season at home on June 1st at Historic Simmons Field against the Green Bay Bullfrogs. The Kingfish play 16 home games in June, 17 in July, and 3 in August. This summer’s Kingfish schedule features 16 games on Friday, Saturday or Sunday.

The first half of the season will be complete at the end of play on Tuesday, July 4th, with the second half beginning on Wednesday, July 5th. The first and second division winners from both the North and South will qualify for the playoffs along with the next best two records from each division. The Northwoods League playoffs will be August 14th – 18th

For the fifth consecutive year, the Mallards will host the Northwoods League Major League Dreams Showcase on August 8th.  This exhibition double header will feature the top 100 players in the Northwoods League. The players will be selected by Major League Baseball scouts. Game one is scheduled for 4:05 pm, with game two at 7:35 pm.


The 2017 Northwoods League All-Star break, hosted by the Wisconsin Woodchucks in Wausau, Wisconsin, will be July 17th-19th.

The Fond du Lac, WI Dock Spiders will join the Northwoods League South Division in 2017. A new club in Bismark, North Dakota, the Bismark Larks, will join the North Division. With the addition of the Dock Spiders and the Larks, the Northwoods League has expanded to 20 teams. There will be no inter-divisional games in 2017, as each team will only play the other nine teams from their division in the regular season. The North Division franchises include the Eau Claire Express, Thunder Bay Border Cats, Waterloo Bucks, Mankato MoonDogs, Duluth Huskies, Willmar Stingers, Loggers, St. Cloud Rox, Bismark Larks, and Rochester Honkers. The South Division is comprised of the Madison Mallards, Kenosha Kingfish, Wisconsin Rapids Rafters, Green Bay Bullfrogs, Lakeshore Chinooks, Wisconsin Woodchucks, Kalamazoo Growlers, Battle Creek Bombers, Rockford Rivets, and Fond du Lac Dock Spiders.

Single-game tickets for all Kingfish home games will go on sale Saturday, April 29th.
