Kenosha, Wis. – The Kingfish are pleased to announce the signing of three more players to the 2019 roster. Outfielder Chris Davis, outfielder Mikey Filia and catcher/infielder/outfielder Drew Dyer will all be taking the field for the Kenosha Kingfish this summer.
Davis comes to Kenosha from the Princeton Tigers. He is a 5’10” 175-pound left-handed hitting junior outfielder from Avon, CT. Davis started 33 times for the Tigers, scoring a team-best 25 runs in 2018 and was second on the team with five stolen bases. Davis is the son of ESPN Analyst Rece Davis, who you can find hosting College GameDay on Saturday mornings during the college football season.
Filia is a 5’9” 180-pound right-handed hitting redshirt junior from UC Irvine. Originally from Irvine, CA, Filia ranked 67th in the top 150 players in Orange County coming out of high school and was an All-City outfielder as a senior. In his sophomore season for the Anteaters, Filia appeared in 46 games with 19 starts in the outfield and hit .289 on the year. Mikey’s brother, Eric Filia, was a member of the 2015 Kenosha Kingfish NWL Championship team. Eric is currently in the Seattle Mariners minor league system.
Dyer, the son of Assistant Coach Brian Dyer and grandson of Head Coach Duffy Dyer, will be joining the Kingfish for the 2019 season as well. Dyer is a 6’1” 200-pound right-handed hitting freshman from Chicago State University. Dyer was ranked 74th in the Class of 2018 Arizona State Rankings and played his high school ball for Brophy College Prep in Phoenix, AZ.
“I’m ecstatic to add these three talented players to our roster for the upcoming season,” said Head Coach Duffy Dyer. “Davis and Filia will provide speed and reliability in the outfield, while Dyer’s ability to play multiple positions will give me plenty of options when it comes to filling out the lineup card. I think all three guys are a great addition to the Kingfish and will be a big part of our success in the 2019 season.”
Opening Day for the Kingfish is May 28th against the Wisconsin Woodchucks. The game begins at 6:35 PM at Historic Simmons field. 2019 marks the sixth season on Kingfish Baseball in Kenosha.
