TRAVERSE CITY, Mich. – The Kenosha Kingfish (4-7) lost 7-1 to Traverse City (5-6) at Pit Spitter Park on Friday night.

LHP Nate Seprosky (Rhode Island) made the start for Kenosha and took the loss. In 3.2 innings Seprosky struck out three and allowed seven runs on six hits and five walks.

RHP Andrew Hoffman (Oakland) got the win for Traverse City. Hoffman pitched six innings giving up three hits and one run.

Kenosha’s defense was strong behind the plate. C Brian Vance (St. Joseph’s) threw out two base runners in the first three innings.

DH Matt Padre (Manhattan College) drove in Kenosha’s lone run in the top of the fourth on a sacrifice fly to centerfield.

The Pit Spitters started out the scoring with four runs in the bottom of the third inning and then scored three more in the bottom of the fourth. The Kingfish trailed 7-1 into the fifth inning.

The Kingfish tried to put together a rally in the top of the eighth inning when 1B R.J. Pearson (Oral Roberts) hit his team leading fourth double of the year. But Pit Spitters relief pitcher Andrew Nelson would not allow anything from there.

RHP Harry Orth (UW – Oshkosh) pitched 2.1 innings in relief for Kenosha without giving up a run on one hit, one walk and three strikeouts.

RHP Caleb Larson (Illinois) came out of the bullpen for Kenosha in the seventh inning. Larson pitched two innings and picked up his first scoreless outing of the season on one hit.

Kenosha finishes up its second road trip of the season tomorrow in Traverse City at 7:05 p.m. ET.
