KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Kenosha Kingfish (8-15) lost Wednesday night 3-2 to the Kalamazoo Growlers (11-12).

RHP Kyle Gendron (Winona State) started for Kenosha and took a no-hitter into the fourth inning.

Gendron finished his outing with 5.2 innings giving up on two runs, three hits, four strikeouts and issued three walks.

Kenosha scored the first run in the second inning. 3B Nate Thomas (St. Joseph’s) led off the inning with a single and later scored on a single by RF Zach Nogalski (UW – Milwaukee).

The Kingfish struck for another run in the sixth inning after a lead off error that put 2B Mitchell Buban (UW – Milwaukee) at first base.

A batter later LF Mike Jarvis (San Diego State) singled driving Buban to third base.

With runners at the corners Kenosha executed a double steal scoring Buban and extending the lead 2-0 into the middle of the sixth.

Kalamazoo tied the game 2-2 in the bottom of the sixth inning on two hits, a walk and a Kingfish error.

The Growlers scored the winning run in the bottom of the eighth after a double by 1B Shea Kramer (Utah) and an RBI single by CF Gabe Rivera (Miami).

The Kingfish return home tomorrow for a double header with the Rockford Rivets.

Game one at Simmons Field will start at 5:05 p.m. CT.
