ROCKFORD, Ill.. – The Rockford Rivets (13-12) took advantage of two Kenosha Kingfish (10-17) late game errors to win 3-2 on Saturday night.

Rockford RHP Jordan Nelson (Dubuque) started the game for the Rivets striking out six, walking five and allowing two runs.

RHP David Luethje (Florida) started for Kenosha throwing 5.1 shutout innings with four strikeouts. Luethje finished his first start for the Kingfish allowing only two hits.

LHP Colton Gordon (Hutchinson CC) came out of the pen in the eighth inning but blew a save opportunity in the ninth inning. Gordon finished his outing throwing two innings allowing two unearned runs on two hits.

RHP Tanner Fallon (Loras College) got the loss after facing one batter in the tenth. The winning Rockford run charged to Fallon was unearned.

The Kingfish jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning on a two RBI single by 3B Nate Thomas (St. Joseph’s) but did not score any more runs throughout the rest of the game.

Kenosha had other opportunities to score in the seventh and eighth innings, but stranded base runners at third base in both frames.

The Rivets got the bats going late in the ninth. Rockford tied the game 2-2 on two hits, two walks and an error at shortstop by SS R.J. Pearson (Oral Roberts).

Rockford walked off the Kingfish off in the bottom of the tenth inning on a throwing error by C Brian Vance (St. Joseph’s University) that scored C Mason Minzey (Texas Tech).

The Kingfish return to Simmons Field Sunday for a 1:05 p.m. CT first pitch with the Rockford Rivets.
