KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Kalamazoo Growlers (16-16) defeated the Kenosha Kingfish (13-22) on Monday night at Homer Stryker Field by a score of 7-4.

RHP Caleb Larson (Illinois) started for the Kenosha Kingfish and threw 4 2/3 innings allowing four runs on five hits while striking out two, walking four and beaning three batters.

RHP Braydon Nelson (St. Bonaventure) started for Kalamazoo throwing four innings and giving up four runs on two hits and four walks.

The Kingfish scored first in the top of the second on a sacrifice fly to centerfield by C Drew Dyer (Chicago State).

Dyer drove in 3B Nate Thomas (Saint Josephs) and put Kenosha up 1-0 over Kalamazoo.

In the top of the fifth inning RF Mike Jarvis (San Diego State) hit a three-run homerun to left field extending the Kingfish lead 4-0.

Kalamazoo responded in the bottom of the fifth with seven runs on four hits.

Growlers CF Gabe Rivera (Miami) hit a two RBI single to start the scoring. 2B Jake Topolski (Duke) drove in the tying run on an infield hit and C Drew Blakely (Virginia) put Kalamazoo on top 7-4 with a bases clearing three RBI double.

RHP Harry Orth (UW – Oshkosh) received the loss after entering the game in relief in the bottom of the fifth. Orth finished the night dealing 1 2/3 innings allowing three runs on three hits and one walk.

RHP Kaden Helsel (Drury) got the win for Kalamazoo on two hitless shutout innings in relief while striking out four.

The Kingfish wrap up the road trip on Tuesday night at Homer Stryker Field. First pitch is slated for 7:05 p.m. ET.
