WISCONSIN RAPIDS, Wisc. – The Kenosha Kingfish (4-10) lost 1-0 to the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters (9-4) on Thursday night at Witter Field.

Rafters starter LHP Gareth Stroh (Nebraska) got the win pitching seven shutout innings with nine strikeouts. Stroh took a perfect game into the fourth inning and a no-hitter into the seventh.

RHP Keith Kutzler (UW – Whitewater) started for Kenosha and took the loss allowing one run on four hits in six innings pitched.

The Rafters went up 1-0 in the bottom of the second on a two out single and never relinquished the lead.

The Kingfish stranded five base runners in the game including the tying run in the ninth in scoring position.

C Luke Stephenson (Xavier) broke up Stroh’s no-hit bid in the seventh on an infield single.

Stephenson played great defense in the game and threw out two base runners. Coming into tonight’s game the Rafters had only been caught out five times in 35 attempts at home.

LHP Troy Hickey (Madison College) finished the game for Kenosha out of the pen pitching two shutout innings while striking out one.

RHP Brayden Bonner (Dixie State) recorded the save for the Rafters pitching the ninth inning allowing one walk with one strikeout.

The Kingfish return to Witter Field in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin on Friday at 7:05 p.m. CT.
