ROCKFORD, Ill. – The Kenosha Kingfish (10-11) beat the Rockford Rivets (6-15) 5-2 on Wednesday night at Rivets Stadium in the second game of a home-away double header.

Kingfish starting pitcher RHP Caleb Larson (Illinois) earned the win pitching six innings and allowing two runs on five hits. Larson finished the night striking out three batters.

RHP Zach Jones (Rockford) started for Rockford and pitched six innings allowing two runs on three hits.

The Kingfish recorded two double plays through the first three innings and stifled Rockford’s bats.

3B Roberto Peña (College of Central Florida) drove in Kenosha’s first run on a sacrifice fly to right field in the fourth.

LF Ethan Owens (Drury) capped the scoring in the fourth with an RBI double into the left field corner scoring RF Mike Jarvis (San Diego State) for a 2-0 Kingfish lead.

The Rivets tied the game 2-2 in the bottom of the sixth on a two RBI triple by LF Matt Higgins (Bellarmine).

RHP Ryan Riddle (Central College) got the loss for Rockford. He pitched one inning in relief and gave up three runs in the seventh on one hit, two walks and a hit by pitch.

Kenosha retook the lead 5-2 in the seventh on a two-out bases clearing double by Peña.

Peña finished the night with four RBIs.

RHP Riley Wikel (MSOE) entered the game in the seventh inning and picked up the save on three shutout innings.

The Kingfish return to Simmons Field on Thursday at 7:05 p.m. CT to face the Battle Creek Bombers.
