Rockford hit three homeruns to outscore the Kingfish.
Kenosha, WI- The Kenosha Kingfish (6-6) dropped game two of the series against the Rockford Rivets (5-6) 10-3 Friday, June 11 at Historic Simmons Field.
It was all Rockford from the start as Tyeler Hawkins (University of Louisville) knocked a solo home run off of Kingfish starter Dominic Hann (Michigan State) in the first inning. The Kingfish tied the game in response on three hits and a run in the bottom of the same inning.
Rockford pulled ahead in the third inning with a three-run home run from Brody Harding (University of Illinois). Hann picked up the loss for the Kingfish, going four innings with two hits, three walks and four earned runs. Kingfish relievers Hayden Fox (UW Whitewater) and Mitch Waletzki (Minnesota-Duluth) gave up three and two earned runs respectively.
Rivets starter Jace Warkentien (Western Illinois) pitched one inning short of a complete game, only giving up two runs with seven hits and eight strikeouts. Reliever Tyler Horvath (Illinois-Springfield) gave up one run in the ninth on two hits and a walk.
Dustin Crenshaw (Grand Canyon University) and Cam Redding (St. Louis University) both went 2-4 and Kirk Liebert (Kentucky), Casey O’Laughlin (Azusa Pacific), and Crenshaw had the only Kingfish RBIs.
The Kingfish play at home tomorrow, Saturday, June 12 at Historic Simmons Field against the Battle Creek Bombers at 6:05 p.m. CT.
