Battle Creek, MI. – The Kenosha Kingfish defeated the Battle Creek Battle Jacks 6-1 on Tuesday night.
Kenosha struck first in the first inning on a Drake Westcott double that scored Jacob Tobias. Later in the frame, Brady Counsell reached on an error that scored Westcott to make it 2-0. Gage Williams then singled to score Josh Leslie to put Kenosha up 3-0.
Kenoswha added in the third inning courtesy of a Tobias solo shot to make it 4-0. A few batters later, Williams doubled to score Westcott and Counsell to make it 6-0. Battle Creek added a run late to cut it down to 6-1 which held the rest of the way.
Brett Sanchez was charged with the loss after going one inning and allowing three runs.
Kenosha pitcher McCray Gann was credited with the win after throwing 2.1 innings, conceding no runs He relieved Tyler McLaren who threw 3.1 innings conceding zero runs. Blake Malatestinic threw 1.1 innings of shutout ball. Grayson Thurman finished the game throwing two innings and allowing one run.
Kenosha (12-11) will take on the Battle Creek Battle Jacks (12-10) in the series finale on June 22nd. The first pitch will be at 5:35 p.m. CST.
