Lovds Park, Ill. – The Kenosha Kingfish fell to the Rockford Rivets 3-1 on Friday night. 

Rockford struck first in the second when Thaxton Berch reached on an error to score Dylan Robertson to make it 1-0.

Kenosha responded in the third off of a Taylor Darden sacrifice fly that scored Ian Collier to even the score at 1-1.

In the sixth, Rockford put up two runs courtesy of a Brody Harding RBI single that scored Brandon Bannon. Matthew Mebane reached on an error to plate Johannes Haakenson to increase the lead to 3-1 which held the rest of the way.

Ricky Castro was credited with the win after going seven innings and allowing no runs.

Kenosha pitcher Luke Ellis was credited with the win after throwing one inning, conceding two runs. He relieved Luke Patzner who threw 4.2 innings conceding one run. Blake Malatestinic followed with 1.2 innings of shutout ball. Reed Gannon got the last two outs for Kenosha.

Kenosha (14-12) will take on the Lakeshore Chinooks (12-14) in the series opener on June 25th. The first pitch will be at 6:05 p.m. CST.
