Kingfish Defeat Traverse City in Series Finale

Traverse City, Mi. – The Kenosha Kingfish defeated the Traverse City Pit Spitters 5-2 on Thursday night. 

Kenosha struck first in the second inning on a Michael Dallas RBI single that scored Connor Hincks to make it 1-0. A few batters later, Parker Stinson grounded out, but scored Brady Counsell to increase the lead to 2-0.

They added on in the fifth courtesy of an Ian Collier two-run home run that scored Jacob Tobias to make it 4-0. Traverse City put up one run in the fifth off of a wild pitch and one run in the sixth courtesy of a Sam Tackett single to cut the gap down to 4-2.

 

Kenosha got one run back in the seventh inning on a Tobias RBI single that scored Drake Varnado to make it 5-2 which held for the rest of the game.

Aren Gustafson was charged with the loss after going five innings and allowing four runs.

Kenosha pitcher Clark Candiotti was credited with the win after throwing six innings, conceding two runs. Reed Gannon relieved Candiotti and allowed zero runs in one inning. Blake Malatestinic threw a shutout in the eighth and Grayson Thurman faced the minimum in the ninth to pick up his seventh save of the year.

Kenosha (15-17) will take on the Kalamazoo Growlers (20-12) in the series opener on July 1st. The first pitch will be at 5:35 p.m. CST.
