Kalamazoo, Mi. – The Kenosha Kingfish defeated the Kalamazoo Growlers 8-6 on Saturday night.
Kenosha struck first with two runs in the first off of an Ian Collier double that scored James McCoy. The next batter, Drake Westcott singled to score Collier to make it 2-0.
Following a one-run first for Kalamazoo, Kenosha responded on a Taylor Darden single that scored Connor Hincks to make it 3-1.
In the third, Kenosha added three runs off of a wild pitch, a Drake Varnado fielder’s choice and a Darden sacrifice bunt that scored Hincks to make it 6-1.
Following one run for both sides in the fifth, Ian Collier hit a solo home-run in the sixth to put Kenosha up 8-2.
In the eighth, with Kalamazoo down by five, they put up three runs off of a Daniel Pruitt single that scored Banks Tolley, a Sam Kirkpatrick single that scored Kirkland Banks and a wild pitch that plated Daniel Pruitt to cut the gap down to 8-6, which held the rest of the game.

Travis Densmore was charged with the loss after going two innings and allowing three runs.
Kenosha pitcher Victor Loa was credited with the win after throwing five innings, conceding three runs. McCray Gann followed Loa, throwing two innings allowing one run. Jesse Wainscott threw the eighth, conceding two runs. Grayson Thurman picked up his eighth save in the ninth with a shutout inning.
Kenosha (16-18) will take on the Lakeshore Chinooks (17-17) in the series opener on July 3rd. The first pitch will be at 5:05 p.m. CST.
