Loves Park, Ill. – The Kenosha Kingfish defeated the Rockford Rivets 5-4 on Friday night. 

Rockford put up a run in each of the first three innings to take a commanding 3-0 lead at the end of the third. 

 

In the fourth, Taylor Darden scored Jay Beshears on an RBI double to make it 3-1. However Rockford got the run back in the sixth when Brandon Bannon reached on an error to score Ben Brantley to make it 4-1.

 

In the eighth, Kenosha put up four runs. Parker Stinson scored on an error. The next batter, Bobby Atkinson grounded out to score Beshears to cut the deficit down to 4-3. Kenosha tied the game when Zach Carinci reached on an error to score Darden. The go-ahead run, Brady Counsell scored on a Gage Williams RBI groundout to make it 5-4, which held the rest of the game.

Noah Ruen was charged with the loss after throwing 1,1 innings and allowing three runs.

Kenosha pitcher Nick Ferazzi was credited with the win after throwing three innings, conceding one run. He relieved McCray Gann who threw 4.1 innings conceding three runs and Luke Pfeiffer who threw 0.2 innings of shutout ball. Grayson Thurman closed the game with his 12th save of the season.

Kenosha (6-4) will take on the Kokomo Jackrabbits (1-8) in the series opener on July 16th. The first pitch will be at 5:35 p.m. CST.
