Traverse City, Mi. – The Kenosha Kingfish fell to the Traverse City Pit Spitters 6-5 on Wednesday night.
Kenosha raced out to a 4-0 lead courtesy of a Drake Westcott two-run home run in the first that also scored James McCoy. In the third, McCoy singled to score Josh Leslie and Westcott grounded out to score Parker Stinson.
Traverse City responded with two in the bottom of the third before Kenosha put up one in the fourth off of a Leslie single that scored Taylor Darden to make it 5-2.
Traverse City put up four runs in the seventh when Colin Summerhill scored on a wild pitch. Later in the frame, Glenn Miller singled in Trey Truitt to tie the game. Two batters later, Camden Traficante hit a sacrifice fly to give Traverse City to make it 6-5 which held the rest of the way.
Easton Johnson. was credited with the win after throwing three innings allowing no runs.
Kenosha pitcher Anthony Touhy was charged with the loss after throwing 1.1 innings conceding four runs. He relieved Santiago Gomez who threw 4.2 innings allowing two runs. Jake Wright threw an inning of shutout ball. Luke Pfeiffer threw a shutout in the eighth.
Kenosha (9-10) will take on the Traverse City Pit Spitters (14-4) in a double header on July 28th. The first pitch of game one will be at 11:00 a.m. EST.
