Loves Park, Ill. – The Kenosha Kingfish defeated the Rockford Rivets 8-0 (seven innings) and 1-0 (seven innings) on Monday night.

In game one, Kenosha scored one in the first off of a Brady Counsell double that scored Kevin Bushnell. They added five in the fifth off a Brayden Gorecki single that scored Rail Gilliam. Following a Bushnell hit-by-pitch that scored Kyler Carmack, Brady Counsell singled to score Zac Rice and Gorecki to make it 6-0. Kenosha added two more later in the game to take the opener 8-0.

 

Cal Pundsack was charged with the loss after throwing four innings allowing six runs.

 

Kenosha pitcher Luke Pfeiffer credited with the win after throwing 6.2 innings of shutout ball. Zack Carinci only needed two pitches to induce a game-ending double play.

 

In game two, the pitching dictated the game. Kenosha scored their only run in the fourth off of a Nick Iannantone double that scored Gorecki to make it 1-0. Rockford failed to get on the board as Kenosha swept the double-header.

 

Jack Moore was charged with the loss after throwing four innings allowing one run.

 

Kenosha pitcher Connor Blake was credited with the win for throwing the first seven-inning complete game for the team since 2019. Blake’s second strikeout on the day was the 592nd on the season by a Kenosha pitcher, breaking the team’s single-season record.

 

Kenosha (15-16) will take on the Rockford Rivets (18-13) in the season series finale on August 9th. The first pitch will be at 6:35 p.m. CST.
