RICHMOND, Ind. — The Kenosha Kingfish were shut out for just the second time this season Friday night, falling 10-0 to the Richmond Flying Mummies in the opener of their final regular-season series at McBride Stadium. Richmond picked up its first shutout of the summer, holding Kenosha to five hits while scoring three runs in the first, three more in the third and three in the seventh.

The Flying Mummies jumped in front early behind a three-run first inning, highlighted by Eli Bennett’s three-run home run. Bennett drove in four runs overall, while Jackson Thomas and Prince DeBoskie each scored three times and finished with three hits. DeBoskie also stole three bases in the win.

Kenosha’s offense was held quiet throughout the night. Noah Alvarez, Peter Visconti, Noah Brandt, Crete Slattery and Tate Bender each recorded a hit, but the Kingfish stranded seven runners and were unable to push a run across.

Jaden Alberson set the tone on the mound for Richmond, tossing seven scoreless innings with seven strikeouts to earn the win. Bo Anselmi finished the shutout with two scoreless frames out of the bullpen.

Travis Maxwell took the loss for Kenosha, while Matthew Pokorny worked the final four innings and struck out five.

The Kingfish close the regular season Saturday night in Richmond, Ind., with the finale of the two-game set against the Flying Mummies. First pitch is set for 5:35 p.m. CT before Kenosha turns its attention to the postseason.
