Kingfish Swept By Madison Mallards

The Kingfish couldn’t keep up with the Mallards tonight and were shutout to a score of 8-0. The Mallards swept the series and the Kingfish lose back to back games for the first time this season, falling to 4-4 on the year.

Starting pitcher for the Mallards, Sterling Sharpe was on point tonight with five strike outs in five innings of work. Reliever Brad Neumann also pitched well tonight with three strikeouts in three innings pitched.

The Kingfish had four hits on the night, with two of them coming in the first from Caleb Howell and Chris Godinez. However the inning ended with three Kingfish being left on base. Defensively, the Kingfish played well but fell behind often in the pitch count.

The Mallards second baseman Robbie Tenerowicz hit a home run in the fourth to give the Mallards their first run. Atop the sixth they were able to score another run due to an error on the Kingfish. The Kingfish had three more errors on the evening which has been a problematic trend for the team.  The Mallards pulled away with the lead in the seventh with a double from Tenerowicz and a two run homer from Spencer Blacksher. Blacksher had an impressive night with two hits, two runs and two RBIs in his three at bats.
