Kingfish Win Night Two Of Doubleheaders

Kenosha, Wis. – In the second consecutive night of doubleheaders against the Wisconsin Woodchucks, the Kingfish pulled out back-to-back wins to split the series 2-2. With the two victories the Kingfish improve to 5-3 in the second half.

In the first game, Duffy Dyer’s team garnered four consecutive hits from Chris Godinez (2-4, R), Pat Porter (3-3, 2 R, 3 RBI), Zach Jones and CJ Saylor in the first. Their hits put the Kingfish up 2-0.  The Woodchucks tied things up in the third with another homer, their third in three games, but could not keep down Kenosha.  Pat Porter stepped up in the third and hit a home run to right center to put the Kingfish back up 3-2.  Porter now leads the team with eight home runs and continues his dominance in RBI, leading the league with 44.

The affair was tied up going into the seventh but the Kingfish won in walk-off fashion. Buddy Reed singled, and a single from Porter got Reed running. The Woodchucks made a costly error in right field, allowing Reed to round third and score, giving the Kingfish the victory 4-3.

Game two saw Rex Morrow take the mound, where he would dominate all evening. Morrow pitched a complete game of seven innings, striking out six and yielding just one run. The Woodchucks scored their only run in the second on a passed ball. The rest of the night, Morrow kept them quiet and the Kingfish took control.

The third inning began with a leadoff walk to Spencer Gaa. He then made it to third on a wild pitched and scored on another wild pitch to tie it at 1-1. Zack Kolakowski was walked and Taylor Douglas hit a sacrifice fly to advance Kolakowski. Godinez came up and singled to get run number two. Up next was the fearsome Porter, who smashed a triple to score Godinez add increase the lead to two. Alex Dunlap kept things rolling, hitting an RBI single to score Porter and the fourth run of the frame. With the comfortable lead and a dominant Morrow dealing, King Elvis’ crew coasted to a 4-1 win.
