KENOSHA, Wis. – After turning in a second place finish in the Northwoods League South Division for the first half, the Kenosha Kingfish will be well-represented in the 2017 NWL All-Star game. Four Kingfish players in RHP Quinn Snarskis (St. Joe’s), RHP Logan Wiley (Missouri State), first baseman Derek Bangert (Bradley) and catcher Nick Zouras (Illinois State) will play on the South roster on July 18^th at Athletic Park in Wausau.

Snarskis and Wiley have formed one of the top 1-2 rotation punches in the league this summer, and have paced the Kingfish pitching staff throughout the season. Snarskis is the team leader in both innings pitched (33.2) and ERA (1.60), and has struck out 24 batters while walking just eight and carrying a 2-1 record. Wiley, meanwhile, leads the team in strikeouts (32) and wins (3), and carries a 2.29 ERA through 31.1 innings this season. Both right-handers have made six starts.

Bangert’s selection is a reward for him being one of the most valuable offensive weapons in the division over the first half, as the right-handed slugger leads the team in a myriad of offensive categories including hits (36), doubles (8), home runs (7), and RBI’s (33). With his first half performance, Bangert is already nearing the team record for home runs in a season (10) and is within striking distance of the team records for slugging and OPS.

On a team full of catchers who pose big threats at the plate, Zouras has been the most consistent since the start of the summer. Zouras owns a .280 batting average with a .343 on-base percentage and .355 slugging percentage, smacking five extra base hits this season, one of which was a walk-off against Battle Creek earlier in the summer.

First half division winner Wisconsin Rapids led all South teams with six All-Star selections. The South’s team will be managed by Wisconsin Rapids field manager Craig Noto and his coaching staff.

All-stars were chosen in a ballot by each of the NWL’s 20 team field staff and media contacts.
