Another tough loss for the Chinooks on Sunday. Bombers 4, Chinooks 3.

With no pitchers available to pitch, the Chinooks relied on three position players to get them through the rubber match of their weekend series at Battle Creek. The trio of Eric Aguilera, Matt Harjung and Sam Koenig put together one heck of an effort, especially considering it had been a couple of years since any of the three had even pitched a little.

After taking a 1-0 lead and then battling back from a 3-1 deficit, the Chinooks found themselves on the losing end of another one run battle (all five Chinooks games have been decided by one run apiece). Battle Creek was able to load the bases with two outs in the bottom of the ninth, before Jeremy Shay drew a walk that scored Daniel Rockett for the win.

The Chinooks outhit the Bombers 9-3, with Charlie Markson and Scott Wilcox recording mult-hit performances. Seven of the nine in the Chinooks batting order registered at least one hit each, while Markson, Tyler Kamps and Forrest Chadwich each scored a run.

After five games on the road to open the inaugural season, the Chinooks head home for 10 games over the next 12 days at Kapco Park. The expansion franchise, with a 3-2 record, will host the Eau Claire Express in the home-opener on Monday at 6:35pm.
