Coming off a much needed day of rest the Chinooks offense continued their hot hitting, capitalizing on every early opportunity en route to a 10-8 win in La Crosse on Monday evening.

The Chinooks were able to tally the first run of the contest on an Eric Aguilera (Illinois State) single scoring Ty Young (Louisville) from third.
The Chinooks relinquished the lead briefly but snatched it right back for good thanks to a five run fourth inning highlighted by a Bre Kimbell (Louisiana Tech) three RBI double. Kimbell’s three hit, three RBI performance pushed his RBI count to 10 in the last two games to go along with six hits.

Fans who have followed the Chinooks all year long know the team has made a habit of walking a tight rope in the late innings.
That trend continued Monday night . The Chinooks were able to tally two insurance runs in the seventh thanks to a pair of Logger wild pitches pushing the lead to 10-2. La Crosse would storm back. A pair of hits and a walk loaded the bases to start the frame. The Loggers would plate one on a fielder’s choice grounder to first, trimming the lead to 10-3.

Then the floodgates opened.
A wild pitch, a two run homerun, an error, and another two run bomb later the Loggers clawed back to within two at 10-8. La Crosse would bring the tying run to the plate but Tyler Sparger (Indian Hills Community College) would come on to get the final out in the eighth and record a 1-2-3 ninth.

The win was the Chinooks third in four games pulling them back to .500 at 13-13.
The series continues tomorrow when Carson Beauchaine (2-0, 2.41) will be on the hill for the Chinooks. The game is scheduled to start at 7:05.
