The Lakeshore Chinooks have announced the addition of three players from the nationally-ranked Florida Gators for the 2014 season. Gator freshmen Shaun Anderson, Scott Moss, and Ryan Larson continue a strong partnership between Florida and the Chinooks and look to impact the team in the way that Eric Hanhold and Harrison Bader did during the Chinooks playoff run in 2013.
Shaun Anderson is a 6’4” right-handed pitcher from American Heritage H.S. in Coral Springs, FL where he helped lead his team to the 2012 state title and was a Class 5A all-state pick. Anderson was selected in the 40th round of the 2013 MLB draft by the Washington Nationals and was chosen as the recipient of MLB.com “Don’t Count Him Out “ Award, an award also given to Gator teammate and former Chinook, Eric Hanhold.
Scott Moss pitches from the left side and was also selected in the 38th round of the 2013 MLB draft by the Colorado Rockies. Standing 6’5”, Moss hails from Deltona, FL where he played for DeLand H.S. and was the No. 5 rated lefty in 2013 by Perfect Game. He was also chosen as the Daytona Beach News-Journal’s Player of the Year.
While Anderson and Moss will attempt to get innings on the talented Gator pitching staff, outfielder Ryan Larson has already seen significant playing time in the Gators’ opening weekend of the 2014 season. The speedy 6’0” outfielder from Dr. Phillips H. S. in Orlando was ranked No. 11 among high school outfielders in Florida by Perfect Game and brings a steady, reliable approach to the game.
The three Gator freshmen will head north after the completion of the Florida season in which they have been ranked in the Top 25 of four major preseason polls. The Chinooks look forward to continuing a strong tradition of Gators playing on the Bluff!
