The Lakeshore Chinooks have added hot-hitting Blake Butler (College of Charleston) to the summer roster for 2014. The versatile infielder can play 2B, 3B, and Shortstop and as a sophomore, currently leads the Cougars with a .333 batting average and a .410 on base percentage.
The 6’3” Butler hails from Greensboro, NC where he played for Southeast Guilford H.S. and was named All-Conference and All-County after leading his team to two conference titles. In his freshman season at Charleston, Butler was named to the 2013 All-Southern Conference Second Team and All-Freshman Team as he started 54 games at second base and hit .321–third on the team–with 21 RBI and seven doubles. He also stole the second-most bases on the team with nine stolen in 13 attempts and posted a fielding percentage of .983 with 133 assists and only four errors.
Butler will report to the Chinooks after the completion of the Cougars’ season as they compete in the Colonial Athletic Association.
