On Tuesday morning, Lakeshore and Kalamazoo wrapped up their two-game series.
Chinooks starter Mike Letkewicz (1-1, 4.50 ERA) of Augustana College tossed four and two-thirds innings. He gave up one run on four hits. Letkewicz struck out four batters as well.
In the second, Kyle Wood (Purdue) advanced to first with a single. He then scored on a Zack Bowers (UGA) 2-run homer in the same inning.
Chinooks relievers Connor Jones (UGA), Jake Tuttle (UW-Milwaukee) and Bryce Beeler (Memphis) pitched four and one-third shutout innings.
Wood had another single in the sixth that scored Bowers and left fielder Aaron Huesman (Dayton). Ryan Krill (Michigan State) had a solo homer in the seventh off Growlers lefty Devon Bronson.
The losing pitcher was Kalamazoo starting pitcher Nick Wernke (0-1). He gave up two runs off of four hits. He struck out three and issued four walks in three innings.
The Chinooks return home for a four-game home stand tomorrow at Kapco Park. They take on the Wisconsin Woodchucks on Wednesday and Thursday. The team will play the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters on Friday and Saturday.
