The Chinooks could not overcome the early deficit set by the Bullfrogs. The team lost game two of the series, 8-6.

Offensively, the team was led by Kyle Wood (Purdue). He went 3-5 and scored two runs. Also, Brant Valach (Eastern Illinois) and Ryan Krill (Michigan State) drove in two runs each.

For the Bullfrogs, first baseman Ryan Koziol went 3-3, scored two runs and had two RBI.

Green Bay jumped on the Chinooks lefty Will Headean (Illinois) early. In the first, Johnny Bekakis drew a walk. Designated-hitter Ryan Howell hit a two-run homer to left field. Ryan Koziol also had a base hit and scored on a Franco Guardascione single. The Bullfrogs led 3-0.

In the third, the Bullfrogs increased their lead. The left-hander Headean hit Ryan Howell to start the inning. The first baseman Koziol then got another basehit. Howell scored on Guardascione’s second hit of the game. Koziol also came across on a single by Brian Celsi.

Lakeshore cut away the Green Bay lead in the fourth. Designated-hitter Kyle Wood led off with a double off Luke Watson. Brant Valach had an RBI single. Center fielder Michael Morman (Richmond) also had an RBI double in the inning.  The Bullfrogs led 5-2. 

Ryan Koziol got his third hit in the fourth. Paul Jacobson and Ryan Howell scored on his two-run double off right-hander Mike Letkewicz (Augustana College).          

Valach led off the sixth with a walk of Dan Becks. The Chinooks first baseman Krill then hit a single. The pair scored on a two-run base hit by Sawyer Polen (Kent State). They trailed 7-4.

Lakeshore also scored two runs in the seventh. Brett Siddall (Canisius) and Kyle Wood hit back-to-back singles off Justin Mullins. With no outs, Mullins was replaced by fellow righty Sam Brunner. Morman drew an RBI walk and Siddall scored. Ryan Krill also had a sacrifice fly to left in the inning. The Chinooks trailed 7-6.

Southpaw Connor Jones (Georgia) walked Kyle Lewis to begin the eighth frame. Lewis scored on a single by Johnny Bekakis. The score was 8-6, Green Bay.

The righty Headean (0-1) got his first loss of the season. In three innings, he gave up five runs off seven hits.

Chase Radan (UCLA) and Ryan Radue (Connecticut) combined for three shutout innings.

Right-hander Josh Glick (1-1) picked up the win in relief of starter Luke Watson.

The Chinooks have the day off on Monday, July 14, before starting a four-game home stand. Lakeshore will take on the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters and Green Bay Bullfrogs.
