Lakeshore scored 17 runs in six different innings and won their eighth consecutive game on Saturday. They defeated the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters 17-11.

The game itself lasted exactly four hours. Last season, the Chinooks also scored 17 runs on August 11 versus the Madison Mallards.

Outfielders Brett Siddall (Canisius) and Connor McKay (Kansas) led the team at the plate.

Siddall went 3-4 with a double, scored a run and drove in three runs. The right-handed hitting McKay went 3-6 with a solo homer and three runs scored. He also collected two RBI.

Second baseman Jake Noll (Florida Gulf Coast) doubled down the left field line to start the game. He scored on a Siddall single.

The Rafters tied the game at one in the bottom of the inning. Kirby McGuire advanced on a triple and scored on a Clark Eagan sac fly.

Lakeshore quickly responded by scoring six runs in the second. Designated-hitter Kyle Wood (Purdue) led off with a walk. With one away, McKay hit a single off Nick Blackburn. Noll knocked him in with a single and McKay also scored on an error by first baseman Tyler Servais.

Blackburn hit Luke Meeteer (UW-Milwaukee) and the bases were loaded. After two consecutive walks issued to Brett Siddall and Brant Valach (Eastern Illinois), Justin Schander replaced Blackburn.

Catcher Carter White (Memphis) and the DH Wood each had RBI singles in the same inning. The Chinooks led 7-1.

Campbell Wear led off the second with a base hit off Joe Pavlovich (UW-Oshkosh). He came across on a wild pitch by the right-hander Pavlovich.

Wisconsin Rapids scored one run in the third too. Pavlovich loaded the bases and was replaced by Parker Sanburn (Arkansas). The right fielder Eagan scored on a putout by Ricky Ramirez.  The Rafters trailed 7-3.

Once again, the Rafters brought one more across in the fourth. Tyler Servais led off with a left field single. He advanced to third on an error by Sanburn. The first baseman Servais scored on a Michael Jurgella groundout to second.

Lakeshore scored three runs in the fifth and the sixth. Connor McKay led off the fifth with his solo homer. Justin Schander then hit Sawyer Polen (Kent State). Polen scored on an error by left fielder Campbell Wear

With two outs, Schander was relieved by Connor McClain. Siddall hit a double that scored Meeteer.

The righty McClain issued a walk to pinch-hitter Mitch Ghelfi (UW-Milwaukee) to start the sixth. Ghelfi stole second, and Ryan Krill (Michigan State) moved to first on Tyler Servais’s second error of the contest. McKay had an RBI single and Ghelfi scored.

After one out, Jeff Gogue came in to pitch for McClain. The southpaw issued an RBI walk to Luke Meeteer. The Chinooks had a 13-4 advantage over the Rafters.

The scoring marathon continued in the bottom half of the sixth. Chinooks reliever Ryan Radue (Connecticut) gave up back-to-back base hits to Shawn Hagarty and Michael Jurgella. The right-hander also walked Kirby McGuire.

Both Hagarty and Jurgella came home on double by Keelin Rasch. Wear also had an RBI sac fly to left field in the frame. They trailed Lakeshore 13-8.

In the eighth, Jake Noll moved to first on an error by Shawn Hagarty. He advanced to first on a wild pitch and also scored on a Luke Meeteer double. Meeteer came home on a putout by Ryan Larson (Florida).

With one out, Antonio Gonzales replaced Jeff Gogue. Carter White got on by a fielder’s choice. Ryan Krill collected an RBI single and White scored.

After Connor Jones (Georgia) recorded two outs, pinch-hitter Andre Moore got a base hit. He scored on a Ricky Ramirez single.

The Chinooks scored their last run in the ninth. The left-hander Gonzales walked Meeteer, who scored on a single by Brant Valach. Lakeshore led 17-9.

Catcher Michael Jurgella hit a double off Jones in the bottom of the ninth. Jurgella also scored on a walk to Clark Eagan.  With just one out, Jake Tuttle (UW-Milwaukee) walked in another run.

The righty Sanburn (1-0) picked up his first victory in his Chinooks debut. In two innings, he gave up one hit and struck out two.

Rafters starter Nick Blackburn lasted only one and one-third innings and took the loss. He surrendered seven runs (six earned) off four hits and three walks.

The Chinooks will play the Rafters again on Sunday, July 27 (5:05 p.m.). Lakeshore will also take on the MoonDogs in Mankato on Monday and Tuesday. Both of these games will be played at 7:05 p.m. Finally, they will play a split-location doubleheader with the Kenosha Kingfish on July 30.
