Mequon, WI – Chinooks assistant general manager, Chad Bauer, will be heading to Rockford, Illinois to lead a new Northwoods League affiliated team. Bauer will serve as the team’s general manager. The franchise will be owned and operated by Rockford Baseball Properties LLC.

Rockford Baseball will begin play in the Northwoods League South Division starting next summer. The stadium, which was once named Aviators Stadium and Road Ranger Stadium, is located in Loves Park, Illinois. The stadium will be re-named in the upcoming year as the team has no ties to previous franchises who have occupied the stadium. The team will reveal their team name and logo at a later date.

Chad Bauer was instrumental in assisting with the startup of the Lakeshore Chinooks. He served as the team’s assistant general manager for the organization’s first four seasons. Prior to his time in Mequon, Bauer was a part owner of the Green Bay Bullfrogs from the time the team launched until the conclusion of the 2013 season.

The Chinooks would like to thank Chad for all of his hard work over the past five years and wish him the best with his new opportunity. Lakeshore looks forward to a new rivalry with Rockford Baseball beginning next summer.

A valuable training ground for coaches, umpires and front office staff, more than 140 Northwoods League players have advanced to Major League Baseball, including Cy Young Award winner Max Scherzer (WAS) and MLB All-Stars Chris Sale (CWS), Jordan Zimmermann (WAS), Curtis Granderson (NYM), Lucas Duda (NYM) and Ben Zobrist (KC).
