Grafton, WI- For the first time since the Chinooks inaugural season in 2012, a Lakeshore player has been selected for the Rawling’s “Big Stick” award. Eric Aguilera won the award back in 2012. This year, Chinooks second baseman Matthew Mika was one of nine players in the Northwoods League from this past season chosen for the award. The “Big Stick” award is given to the player at each position who had the best batting average during the 2017 regular season. Mika was the representative for second base.

Matthew Mika had a season for the record books in 2017 batting .333 for the season which was good for 3rd all time in the organization. He finished 3rd all time in hits by collecting 75 over the course of the summer. Matthew did become the all time leader in two offensive stat categories, Runs Scored (53) and Stolen Bases (27).

Mika now heads back to Central Florida as he prepares for their upcoming season and his junior year.
