Grafton, WI – The Lakeshore Chinooks along with the Northwoods League Foundation are proud to announce the Share the Glove Program. As a part of the league’s 25th season celebration, the foundation will be awarding 20 equipment grants, each with an approximate retail value of $2,500, to youth baseball and softball organizations across the 20 communities in which a Northwoods League affiliate currently operates.

The grants will be divided up by (10) baseball grants being awarded through the North Division markets, while the South Division markets will be responsible for (10) softball grants which means the Chinooks will be giving out a softball grant. Organizations must meet applicable criteria related to IRS 501(c)(3) guidelines and the Northwoods League Foundation’s mission.

The following criteria must be met in order to be eligible to receive the grant:

  • Organization qualifies as a 501(c)(3) organization, school or school-based program, or community-based organization as defined under US IRC section 501(c)(3)
  • Organization is not an individual, for-profit business, political, or religious organization
  • Organization provides opportunities for kids ages 9-12 to play baseball or softball within a community that is served by a Northwoods League affiliate

The grant is a standardized set of Rawlings equipment, sized for youth ages 9-12. The grant includes:

  • (2) Sets of Catcher’s Gear (Helmet, Chest Protector, Shin Guards, Mitt)
  • (8) Batting Helmets
  • (10) Fielding Gloves (8 Right Handed, 2 Left Handed)
  • (1) Bucket of Practice Softballs
  • (6) Bats (27 inches to 30 inches)

Qualifying youth softball organizations within the surrounding communities of Kapco Park must complete and submit the grant application by March 31st to be considered.  The grant application can be found HERE.  Completed applications can be e-mailed to melissac@lakeshorechinooks.com or dropped off at the Lakeshore Chinooks Office (983 Badger Circle Grafton, WI 53024).
