Grafton, WI – The Lakeshore Chinooks are excited to announce that Travis Akre will return for his third season as Field Manager for the team in 2020.  The third manager in Chinooks history will look to return the team to it’s winning ways this summer with the hopes of bringing a second Northwoods League championship to the organization. After a slow start last season, Akre’s squad went on a hot streak in the middle of the season but was not quite enough to punch their ticket to the playoffs. The team finished with a record of 32-40.

Akre had the following to say about his return to Lakeshore for the upcoming season: “It’s an honor to have the opportunity to lead the Chinooks for a third season. It’s been a lot of fun being part of building this team. Can’t wait to get to Kapco Park and watch these guys perform in front of our fans.”

Coach Akre is well-connected at all levels of collegiate baseball and will draw on those connections to supplement the roster throughout the demanding summer. Akre also understands the powerful impact the club can have in the community and embraces the opportunity to interact with fans. “Not only is Travis committed to putting a winning team on the field but he is extremely dedicated to helping develop these young men on and off the field as they prepare to return to their universities and eventually on their journey to the minors and majors. Coach has been great interacting with our fans and community whether it is the youth camps we host all the way down to talking baseball with our fans,” added Chinooks Assistant GM, Eric Snodgrass.

Akre’s coaching staff and roster will be announced in the coming weeks.

The 2020 season presented by Port Washington State Bank (Member FDIC) and a Wisco Summer gets underway at Kapco Park on Saturday, May 30th at 6:35pm. Season tickets and group tickets are currently available for purchase. Single game tickets will go on sale at the end of April. Our full promotional schedule will be released later this month.
