Kalamazoo, Mich. — The Lakeshore Chinooks’ road game at Kalamazoo has been postponed until Saturday, June 19 due to inclement weather at Homer Stryker Field on Wednesday.

A 75-minute rain delay between the Chinooks (3-6) and the Growlers (4-5) resulted in the Northwoods League’s decision to resume play at 4:30 p.m. on June 19 at Kapco Park, prior to the teams’ scheduled meeting at 6:35 p.m on the same day. Game 2 will start at 6:35 p.m. or 30 minutes after the conclusion of Game 1, and will end after seven innings.

Chinooks fans who have purchased tickets for Game 2 will be granted admission for the remainder of the first game as well.

Both teams remained scoreless through three innings until second baseman Colton Bauer launched a two-run home run to center field, after right fielder Jackson Gray led off the fourth with a single.

First baseman Brennen Bales then reached first base on an error by Kalamazoo third baseman Luke Storm, though center fielder Nathan Aide struck out swinging for the first out of the frame prior to the declared thunderstorm warning.

Chinooks right-handed starting pitcher Blake Malatestinic tossed the first three innings, surrendering no runs on three hits while also registering five strikeouts. The Eastern Illinois product held the Fond du Lac Dock Spiders to three hits and without a run in a June 2 road win.

Growlers starter Austin Strickland allowed the Chinooks’ two earned runs through 3 1/3 innings, after making a four-inning start in a 10-inning one-run home loss to Kenosha on June 3.

Game 2 is set to resume in the top of the fourth inning with one out, and third baseman Dalton Doyle batting.

Lakeshore will travel to Green Bay (3-5) Thursday for the start of a home-and-home series. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m. at Capital Credit Union Park.
