Mequon, WI – Gill’s Reading Challenge is back for 2022. This will be the eight year of the program. Last year, over 13,000 kids from all over southeastern Wisconsin participated in the challenge.  With the Reading Challenge, the team hopes to increase literacy in schools and to get students of all ages excited about reading. The program is once again sponsored by Children’s Wisconsin. Gill’s Reading Challenge is a free program available to all schools in the area. The challenge is intended for students in grades K-8 and last for four weeks. Schools have until May 1st to start their challenge. Gill’s Reading Challenge is also available for any public library within southeastern Wisconsin.

With this free program, teachers will have the ability to set students’ goals whether it is a set number of pages, number of chapters, or number of books read. If a student reaches their goal they will be rewarded with a ticket to a Lakeshore Chinooks game as well as a kids zone pass to Kapco Park, and a certificate of completion. The team will provide all the necessary materials for teachers, students, and parents.

Teachers and students who participate in the challenge are invited to join us for Gill’s Reading Challenge Nights on June 9th and June 23rd. Otherwise, schools can designate a certain home game date to make it their school’s reading challenge night at Kapco Park. Students will also be given an order form for family and friends to order additional tickets.
