Madison, Wis – The Mallards won 4-3 with a comeback victory to sweep the Chinooks in the opening two-game series. The Chinooks offense led the way in the first inning by building an early lead on two unearned runs. Beau Nichols of the Mallards shook off the rust early with five strikeouts and no earned runs in five innings. The Chinooks bullpen couldn’t hold on as Javier Beal of the Mallards led the team with 2 RBIs and had the game-winning hit in the bottom of the 8th.

Scott Rouse had a solid start for the Chinooks with four strikeouts and gave up one run in four innings. The Chinooks offense went quiet in the early season matchup against the Mallards. The team only managed three runs on five hits. Aiden Longwell led the way with two hits along with the only RBI tonight. Josh Johnson and Josh Williams each had one run and one hit to help contribute to the Chinooks offense. Steven Lacey of the Mallards closed out the game with 4 strikeouts in 1.2 innings pitched to send the Chinooks to a 0-2 start.

The Chinooks head out on another road trip to face the Wausau Woodchucks in a two-game series starting tomorrow. The first pitch is set for 6:35pm at Athletic Park.
