Wausau, Wis – Errors proved costly as the Chinooks fell to the Woodchucks 5-0 on Thursday night. After claiming their first victory of the season winning 4-3 on Wednesday night, the Chinooks came in today looking for a sweep against the Woodchucks in their two-game series.

Wausau’s Jared Burch (1-0, 0.00 ERA) had other plans.

Burch struck out eight Chinooks hitters in six innings of work allowing only one of three total hits on the night for Lakeshore. Five of his strikeouts came in the first two innings as the Chinooks struggled out the gate. The Chinooks started off the second inning with a leadoff double from Caden Kaiser, who remained hot by totaling three hits in five at-bats during the two-game series. The Chinooks were unable to capitalize in the second and left two runners stranded. Lakeshore would go on to leave seven total runners on base throughout the night.

Josh Johnson and Marcus Cline were the only other Lakeshore batters with a hit in the game. Colin Dailey (0-1, 4.50 ERA) started the game for the Chinooks and went two innings, giving up only one earned run and striking out two batters. Both Luke Schafer (0-0, 0.00 ERA) and Mitch Alba (0-0, 0.00 ERA) pitched two scoreless innings while striking out four total batters.

Lakeshore will travel back to Mequon to begin a two game homestand beginning with their home opener against Wisconsin Rapids tomorrow night. First pitch is set for 6:35pm at Moonlight Graham Field.
