Mequon, Wis – The Lakeshore Chinooks early-season struggles continued in another loss to Wisconsin Rapids Rafters with a final score of 6-3. Josh Williams started the Chinooks offense with a massive home run to give the Chinooks an early 1-0 lead in the 1st inning. Williams’ homer was the Chinooks first home run of the season. Early in the game, both offenses went back and forth as there was no pitching duel to be seen. The Chinooks starting pitcher tonight Tommy Lamb dealt with a busy 2nd inning. Harry Owen and Aiden Brewer of the Rafters each got RBI singles to help the Rafters take the lead 2-1 in the 2nd.
The Chinooks offense kept cooking with Peyton Sanderson leading the charge with a single to start the bottom of the 3rd. Marcus Cline and Josh Johnson would both get RBI singles to give the Chinooks a 3-2 lead. That would be the last scoring chance for the Chinooks the rest of the night. The Rafters had an impressive showing for the game with 5 players each having multi-hit games to help give the Rafters their season-high 12 hits. Aiden Brewer of the Rafters had a .158 average heading into tonight but was crucial for the Rafters big victory tonight. Brewer went 3 for 4 with 2 RBIs to lead the Rafters offense and score 6 runs.
Colin Kiernan had a quality start after giving up a couple of early runs for the Rafters tonight. The stat line for Kiernan was solid allowing only 3 earned runs in 6 innings pitched and 4 strikeouts against the Chinooks. None of the Chinook hitters tonight had a multi-hit game and the bats went silent after the 3rd inning. The Chinooks weren’t able to get get a comeback tonight against a hot Rafters team.
The Chinooks record falls to 1-4 in the early portion of the season. The Rafters continue their impressive start with a 4-1 record. The Chinooks and Rafters face off in the final game of the series at Moonlight Graham Field on Saturday night. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m.
