Traverse City, Michigan – The Chinooks were unable to generate much offense tonight as they fell to the Pit Spitters in their first game back since the All Star break. Lakeshore managed one run on four total hits, but saw a great game from starter Joe Glassey on the mound. Traverse City did much of their damage late in the game while finishing with eight runs on nine total hits.

The Chinooks scored their lone run of the night in the top of the second inning. Joey Spence reached first on a one out walk to start things off and quickly advanced to second on a past ball. Payton Sanderson reached base on a walk to put two men on with two outs. Two errors in a row by Traverse City allowed both runners to advance and for Spence to score. Michael Seegers, Mathias Haas, Matt Deprey, and Nathan Aide each finished with one hit on the night.

The Pit Spitters were trouble at the plate for Lakeshore throughout the night. Colin Summerhill of Traverse City went 2 for 4 with 2 RBI while Trey Truitt III went 2 for 3 with an RBI as well. On the mound, Adam Christopher and Ryan Insco (W, 3-2) combined for seven innings of scoreless baseball while striking out four Chinook hitters.

Lakeshore’s Joe Glassey started the game tonight and pitched a great five innings while still receiving the official loss. Glassey (L, 1-1) finished the night giving up only two runs while striking out eight hitters. Glassey currently has an ERA of 2.16 on the season, solidifying himself as an integral part of the Lakeshore rotation.

The Chinooks have a chance at redemption tomorrow as they face off against the Pit Spitters again. Game two of the series has first pitch scheduled for 6:05pm at Turtle Creek Stadium.
