7 RBI performance leads Lakeshore to an 11-5 victory

Every night at a baseball game you can pick out a player or two who was the biggest contributor, and did what he needed to do to help the team win. But rarely do you see an offensive exhibition like the one Bre Kimbell put on Saturday night in Madison.

Kimbell drove in seven runs in the Chinooks’ 11-5 win over the Madison Mallards, highlighted by a three-run blast, his first home run of the season. He drove three more runs in on a pair of singles, and drove in his seventh of the night with a bases loaded walk, en route to becoming the North Woods League player of the night.

Kimbell’s 7 RBI proved to be all the Chinooks needed, as starter Nick Soldano picked up his second victory of the season, giving up five runs over  5 2/3 innings pitched. Joe Greenfield and Tyler Sparger pitched in relief and did not allow another run the rest of the evening.

Eric Aguilera was another Chinooks hitter with an impressive showing at the plate, going 4 for 4 with two doubles and a run scored for the Chinooks, who took the third game and rubber match over the Mallards after splitting the first two games of the series at Kapco Park, and improved to 12-13 overall. The two teams will meet again until August 5th in Madison.

The Chinooks have Sunday off before heading to La Crosse to meet with the South Division-leading Loggers on Monday, with first pitch at 6:35.
