In this year’s Northwoods League Great Lakes Division All-Star Game, the West defeated the East 11-7 Tuesday night at Turtle Creek Stadium in Traverse City, Michigan.
Three Chinooks were selected to play for the Great Lakes West squad this season: Gabe Roessler, Blake Kunz and Matthew Mueller.

INF Gabe Roessler (Madison College)
Roessler was the starting shortstop and batted ninth in the contest. In two at-bats, he reached on a fielder’s choice and grounded out to second base.
This season as a Chinook, the Rockton, Illinois native is batting .297 with seven doubles and 19 RBIs through 34 contests. Roessler has also only struck out 19 times in 118 plate appearances. He ranks second on the team in stolen bases with 15.
P Blake Kunz (South Dakota State)
Kunz took the mound in the bottom of the second inning. In one inning, the Germantown, Wisconsin native gave up one hit and walked one batter. The right-hander threw 13 strikes in 22 total pitches.
With Lakeshore so far this season, Kunz has started in seven games with a 3-2 record, posting a 3.18 ERA in 34 innings pitched. He has struck out 38 total batters, which leads the Chinooks’ pitching staff.
P Matthew Mueller (Gonzaga)
In the bottom of the fifth inning, Mueller entered into this contest. The left-hander pitched two-thirds of an inning, walking two batters and striking out one with 19 total pitches.
Mueller has a 1-2 record with a 2.88 ERA in six starts as a Chinook this summer. The Brookfield, Wisconsin native has struck out 36 batters and has a .151 opposing batting average in 25 innings pitched.
