The Mankato MoonDogs scored early, but the Lakeshore Chinooks came from behind to win their home opener, 4-2.

Left-hander Connor Jones, from the University of Georgia, got the start for the Chinooks. In three innings, he gave up two runs on three hits. He also struck out four.

Chinooks right-fielder Aaron Huesman (Dayton) led off the bottom of the third with a walk. He scored on a misplay to first base. Center fielder Luke Meeter (UW-Milwaukee) scored in the inning as well.

Zack Bowers (UGA) drove in Kyle Wood (Purdue) in the fifth. His triple gave the Chinooks the lead, 3-2. Lakeshore also scored in the seventh on a walk.

Righty G.J. Strauss, a product of Florida Tech University, received the win in relief of Jones. In five innings, he surrendered two hits and had no walks. He struck out six MoonDog batters. Luke Lowery (Southern Mississippi) pitched the ninth and recorded a save.

Mankato starter Jake Jenkins (0-1, 3.37 ERA) suffered the loss. He gave up three runs on four hits in five and one-third innings of work.

The Chinooks and MoonDogs meet again tomorrow at Kapco Park. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
